We head out tomorrow 1st thing from Menton to Drap

A very tough first day with a 7 mile steep climb straight out of the gate up to 2,700ft. Going to be 14-15 hard miles and we're looking to start at 7am and finish around 3pm. On the plus side, the weather is looking to be brilliant so we should get some amazing views.

It's a lovely sunny start to the day with a nice view out of our apartment down onto Drap. Plenty of up and down for us with splendid views down across Nice from the Balcony Trail. Heading out soon. Our day started with a massive climb up to Tourettes Levens and then a steep downhill to Colomar and the River Var above Nice. From there it was another very steep climb up to Gattieres before the long walk down to La Gaude and our hotel

Day 3 - 16 miles to Valbonne

Today is going to be another long distance at 16 miles, but the elevation is approx half of the last 2 days at 2,300ft. So we are hoping that it will be slightly easier after the last 2 monster days. Last night we all struggled up the stairs to our rooms after an early supper, like 3 old men. View from hotel window - another lovely day shaping up. So we headed out at 8ish and had a day of mainly gentle ups and downs with the exception of one really steep rocky descent where I took a nasty tumble. Plenty of blood and bruising but it could have been much worse. We had time for sunny cafe stops in Vence and Roquefort les Pins before arriving at the wonderful Valbonne, and the Hotel Armories.  We start our first section in Menton, walking the 71 miles up to Valbonne and down into St Raphael.  The second section is 78 miles in 7 days, ending in Toulon on 5th April.
